Coín is situated in the valley of the rio Grande. A a market town in Roman times whose name was Lacibis, Coín provided the marble from the quarries of the Sierra Blanca which were used to built the Roman city of Italica which once stood close to Seville and was and was the birthplace in 76AD of the future emperor, Hadrian.
